Basic Emergency Medical Technician Certification
Each semester, we offer a series of courses that meet the requirements of the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services for certification as an Emergency Medical Technician. These courses include:
- EMC 110 - EMT Theory & Practice
- Corequisite: EMC 110L- EMT Theory and Practice Lab
- Corequisite: EMC 104 - Healthcare Basic Life Support (Professional CPR Certification)
Total Curriculum Requirements.............................7 hours
The Emergency Medical Technician Certificate is awarded by the Department of Safety, Security, & Emergency Management, not Eastern Kentucky University. Course work includes Kentucky's mandated HIV/AIDS Awareness Course, Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma Awareness Course, and IS 100, 200, 700 and 800.
