When it comes to the elderly and pharmacology the pre hospital provider will start to see that a lot of elderly are on excessive amounts of medications. Due to the aging process and all of the known chronic diseases that are more commonly seen in the elderly one can understand why an individual above sixty five years in age has a medication list as long a family of sixes grocery list.

A lot of physiological changes take place as you age and this can greatly affect the way a drug is metabolized in your body. Some questions that may be asked among patients include; how will this drug affect my everyday life? Is it really necessary for my loved one to be taking all of these medications? What are some things I can do to ensure that I am taking the correct dosages? This paper will look more into detail on these questions and some information regarding pharmacology in the elderly.
