Dougherty Joins EMC Faculty
Alex Doughery, MS, NRP, has been appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Emergency Medical Care Program at Eastern Kentucky University. Professor Dougherty began teaching full-time in our program on August 1st.
Professor Dougherty is a proud Kentuckian and an alumnus of our program. He received his Bachelor of Science in Emergency Medical Care with a minor in Aviation from EKU, and is a licensed pilot. Later, he worked as a Graduate Assistant in our program while obtaining dual Master of Science degrees: the first in Safety, Security, and Emergency Management, and the second in Career and Technical Education. Moreover, he holds Graduate Certificates in Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene.
Professor Dougherty has ten years of emergency services/public safety experience with several EMS agencies in Kentucky, including Hardin County, Woodford County, and the Kentucky Speedway Fire & Safety Team. This semester (Fall 2019), he is leading our basic Paramedic skill labs and teaching Medical Emergencies 1- the first in a comprehenisve two-course series that covers the spectrum of medical emergencies a Paramedic may encounter.
In his personal time, Professor Dougherty enjoys fishing and spending time with family. Join us in welcoming him to our faculty!
