Students Receive Tactical EMS Training

On April 15, 2016, EKU paramedic students were treated to a hands-on demonstration of tactical emergency medical care.

The training exercise, conducted by Anthony Higgins, a medic in the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Lexington, gave paramedic students a chance to participate in emergency rescue scenarios under realistic conditions.

Higgins, a 1997 EKU Eastern Kentucky University EMC graduate and is responsible for 19 tactical EMS teams in the mid-Atlantic region for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, demonstrated how to safely and quickly extricate injured prison staff from dangerous situations.
