Emergency Response Training Programs focusing on whether training programs provide training to responders that provides for preparedness and proficiency for specialized emergency incidents (Focus of Dissertation).

Bio

Jeremy Federer was born and grew up in Highland, IL.  He is a multi-generational firefighter whose father is an officer with his hometown fire department and leader in the Illinois fire service community.  In 2001, Mr. Federer joined the United States Army where he attended the Department of Defense Fire School at the Louis F. Gareland Fire Academy in San Angelo, TX.  After completing his training, he was stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska as a member of the Fort Wainwright Fire Department and obtained EMT and then EMT-Intermediate certification.  During his time in Alaska he also joined the North Star Volunteer Fire Department in North Pole, Alaska, and assisted in training fellow firefighters that were working on their Fire and Paramedic Degrees at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.  After completing his military time, Mr. Federer was rehired as a civilian at Fort Wainwright and later transferred to the Blue Grass Army Depot Fire Department here in Richmond, Kentucky.  Shortly thereafter, he joined Madison County EMS as a part-time EMT and enrolled in a paramedic certificate program we held in 2006-2008. 

In 2009, Mr. Federer married his wife, Heather, who he met while doing his clinical time with Eastern Kentucky's Paramedic Program.  Mr. Federer earned a B.A.S. in Fire Science in 2012 and his M.S. in Emergency Management in 2014, both from Columbia Southern University.  Mr. Federer has two children: Mikey, born in 2011, and Olivia, born in 2013.  Mr. Federer is currently pursuing a Ph.D in Fire and Emergency Management at Oklahoma State University.
